First time applicants should bring:
- Certificate of Completion from the required Firearms Course
- North Carolina Driver’s License
- Former military personnel must bring a Certificate of Honorable Discharge or a copy of a DD-214.
- Applicants will be fingerprinted and this information submitted to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) for issuance of a Concealed Carry Permit.
- There is an approximate 90 day period from application to issuance.
- Hours of service for Concealed Carry Permits are Monday – Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.– 4:00 p.m.
- The fee for a first time applicant is $90, renewals are $75, and permit duplicates are $15.
- If you are RENEWING a concealed handgun permit, you MUST apply PRIOR to your expiration date, but no more than 90 days prior to the expiration.
- If your concealed handgun permit has already EXPIRED, but it has been LESS than 60 days since expiration, you will be required to apply as a NEW APPLICANT, be fingerprinted, and pay the $90 fee, but you will NOT be required to submit a new training certificate.
- If your concealed handgun permit has expired and it has been MORE than 60 days since expiration, you must retake the CONCEALED HANDGUN TRAINING COURSE, apply as a NEW APPLICANT, pay the $90 fee, and submit the NEW TRAINING CERTIFICATE with your application.
